Default OPTIMA my A$$

I do a lot of tracking, autoxing AND listen to my stereo for extended periods of time. So, I figured an Optima red/yellow was the way to go all around. NOT!!!

1.2 years later, I'm left stranded in a parking lot with a dead dry-cell. You know, the kind of battery you can't jump? Not impressed...

I'm back to an 800+ cranking amp wet battery now. Don't think I'll go the dry way again for awhile. Hope the rest of you have had better luck.

Oh, well...it was at least nice swapping the battery out, getting a brand new unit AND about $100.00 cash back as well. If there is a bright side to having to walk home to get the truck and ruin the rest of my Saturday swapping things out...and, losing 2 plastic clips under my hood somewhere.

Ive had a good experience w/ Optima and actually will buy one for my next Z.
Do you have the car running when you blast the stereo for long periods of time? You still have to turn the car back on to recharge the battery after a little while.

Yeah I know how you feel...I had a Optima Red cell that crapped out after a year and left me stranded on the way back from SD to LA.

The red top is not a deep cycle battery. The only ones that are deep cycle are the yellow top and the blue top.

1. 800/1
2. Not as much these days.
3. Yellow toppers.
4. Can't recharge dry/deep with bad cell.
5. Can't jump them either.

Which brings up a good point: Anyone ever push-start their Z? I've had mine since 2003 and can't believe I've never tried. Hmmm....
