Default Change 06 console for 03-05?? Need a nav Z Vin # please.

Hey guys,
I know this has been beat to death, but I have a 06 350 and I want to do a carputer and put the screen in the cubby w/t the hide away door. The spring loaded 03 hide away door won't fit the 06 as most of you know, its too small.
SO I need to see if I can change the entire 06 radio/cubby console for the 03-05 console.....and will it fit the 06.
My buddy at Superior Nissan asked me to get a Vin # of a 03-05 350 with Nav w/t cubby door and that way we can order the right one THE FIRST TIME!
I'm also going to order the 06 Nav console also, which Nissan didn't make with a door for the 06's, to compare the overall size and make sure the consoles are interchangable.
So is there someone that has a 03-05 with nav/recessed door that can PM me their Vin#???
I want to order this crap tuesday to get it by friday!

Thanks in advance to all that respond!

Scroll the forum. A thread was posted about that just last week where a member got the '06 w/ nav center dash trim to install a screen in his 03-05. Trim will include dummy nav control panel.

I saw that bro.......but I would rather have the NAV with a hide away door like the 03 -05 models. The 06 NAV model has NO DOOR! And $260 for a non functional nav panel seems alittle excessive to me. That's why I need a Nav /hide away door 03-05 350Z model vin# to make sure I get the correct one to see if it even fits the 06 dash.
If it doesn't fit then I'm relagated to that other setup.
But I gotta try!

The radio is slightly not the same shape in 2006 than in 2005. The corners are rounder on the 2006. Therefore, the center console around the radio may not fit.

Just checked that out and you a 100% right .......DANG! In fact, the radio in the 06 dips into the temperature control panel below it un like the 03-05's being straight across!
So no chance of a 03-05 console swap!

Well after much research.......the 03 pod/cubby console with door will absolutely not fit the 06 model! DEAD ISSUE! So NO hide away cubby door opportunity at all! It's either Minispiders first option......

Or his second option and the nav buttons on the panel are not operational........

Which choice do you guys like.......

PS Should of just listened to MS in the beginning.......

Oh i thought you were gonna do a console swap.

(not just the upper console portion, but even the shifter area and the cup holders...)

I heard that works but Im not positive.

Can you do the second option, with no door, but use the plain old, no button finisher from an 03-05?

nav cubby will fit the 06 car, just takes some work, I've done it! Only problem is the door won't close, but that doesn't bother me

As you can see the door doesn't fit well, but I just leave it open.....

^^^ Just wondering why you would swap to an older model cubby if you don't plan on closing the cubby door anyway?

1. to have a kenwood touchscreen, I didn't have nav at all, just the hinged door cubby

2. 03 nav cubby is so much cheaper and better looking imo than the 06 nav set up, where you not only need to buy the button panel to cover the gap, but it doesn't even work with aftermarket navs!
