Question coaxials in the front door

ive been searching around with the idea of just simply replacing the woofer in the front door with a full range speaker and leaving the stock tweeter as is. i know from searching that many people have done it what i couldnt find out is if they amplified the speaker and tweeter or just the speaker or what. i just want to power it with my deck (50x4), but what i dont want to happen is for the stock tweeter to blow out (since i will just put the coxial instead of the component). so my question is... do you think the stock tweeter will blow down the road if its only powered by my aftermarket deck? becasue im completely happy with the tweeter, i just want to replace the woofer. thanks guys. the more opinons the better

Zstreet86,,,with your headunit being 50x4,,,you will getting about 14-18 watts rms....I think you will be fine with powering everything with just the headunit. Unless you play your music full blast or to the point of distortion, for a long period of time.. And, in that case,,,any speaker/tweeter will eventually blow....I am sure there are guys here that can/will correct me if I am wrong,,,,what do all you guys out there think? I am just trying to help......

1) I replaced with coaxials, and I love it. My opinion will definitely get flamed, but the tweeter and woofer are so far apart, I always thought the whole system sounded bad. Could you imagine a home speaker with the tweeter and woofer 3 feet seperated? And yes, I tried jl audio components in my last 350z with the tweeter in the stock location . And the tweet just slapped me in the face. So now, I play coax's with the tweet DISCONNECTED. It is better IMO, just make sure your girlfriend keeps her damn legs out of the way !

2) No, the tweet will not blow. the tweeter has the bass blocker soldered onto it. ~20 watts RMS is not even close to being too much to blow it out.

3) there is hot debate between physicists, electrical engineers and audiophiles alike, so dont EVEN let this thread get high jacked by this topic. But the side that I agree with states that ONLY overpowering a speaker can blow it, not underpowering it (unless you are using rediculously low wattage like 2-3 watts)

I agree with Roberto350Z that it is NOT a good setup to have the tweets in the sail panels. If you want to upgrade the sound without adding an amp, then get a NICE set of coaxials. And please disconnect the factory tweets, as they will only discolor the sweet sound of your new speakers.

i agree, the stock tweets will only make the sound worse. good coaxils are cheap but definitely worth it!

has anyone ever thought of getting the coxials and a different set of aftermarket tweeters together? or will that just ruin the overall sound as well?

The coax tweeters would interfere (destructively and constructively) with the after market tweeters causing phase problems.

The BEST idea would be to buy components and mount the tweeter in the appropriate place just above the woofer.
