Help...what is this?
I just bought a 35th anniversary, and under the drivers dash there is a button that is connected to a wiring harness…I was curious as to what it is. I have clicked it a few times, but nothing happens. If I hold the button down for 3 seconds a green light comes on, and if I repeat the 3 second hold it turns off. When It is on I don’t feel a difference in the way the car drives (I thought it might be a chip) and the navigation screen is unaffected as well. Any ideas???

Welcome!
It might be a lojack type device used by the dealer, in case the car was stolen.
The dealer should have removed it, before you took delivery.

I will follow the wires and see where they go when I get off work tonight. I think the valet switch for the alarm idea might be a possibility. O and yes I did buy the car used, and the previous owner must have had it installed. I thought about trying to contact the previous owner, but the only way I know of doing that is through car-fax, and I don’t want to pay for that.
So I followed the wires, and under the drivers side kick panel the wiring harness is tapped into a factory wiring harness. I have not played around with the alarm yet (checking to see if it is a valet switch).
I have the same thing in my car..yours looks like the prototype version though. When you hold it down like you said and the green light comes on, this means you are in "stealth" mode. Depress again, green light goes out, stealth mode inactivated.
Hope this helps!
