i would call RE though and ask them if they can make one for you in 10.. but the XXX only comes in 2 ohm... personally i am going with SE's with my setup.

JL Owners shouldn't feel offended by comments.. you should just listen to a car with ID Max or RE or Bhrama's... nothing to feel bad about... i remember the days back in the late 90's when i thought Alpine DDS components were the best things on the planet and i had (2) JL 12w6's in the trunk... i got 1 ID Max 12 and it blew away the JL's no question.. SPL.. SQ.. no question..... then i heard MB Quart Comps and i thought they were the best on the planet... then i heard Diamond Audio Comps and i thought those were the best thing on the planet... now i am on a Rainbow kick...

Hey Kwame
I guess I'll drop in and help out.
First off ... how loud do you need to truly get? Regardless of what anyone will tell you ... having a higher output woofer will have its drawbacks.
Some of the best SQ drivers out there plain and simple cannot get loud. They can sound excellent, handle 600W+, and fill a car nicely... but they won't impress/enrage the neighbors.
A suprise to me, someone mentioned Peerless ... one of the few brands that I can really recommend for a full blown SQ setup. One of the XXLS 10"ers will really do a nice job if you can give it some volume. What size box can you give it?
I have some more suggestions ... and I like the IDMAX as well, a lot in fact ... but your system is "botique" ... and as much as IDMAX is unique ... its too mainstream for your setup

Jim,
I am not trying to have "king kong in my hatch"
. You can tell from my equipment that I am not looking for a moving block party. However, I want to have the ability and peace of mind to know that if a good song comes on, whether it be alternative, classical, jazz, rap or maybe a little african music that my sub will be able to handle the 600 watts I am feeding without a hiccup. My installer says that I should look for a sub that only needs about 1.0 cu ft to be in its optimal operating range. Obviously, I don't want to exceed that because I know I do not have much room back there with these three huge amps. So Jim I am counting on you to throw out some suggestions that I have never heard before
. I have my credit card in hand and I am ready to make a purchase by this weekend.

I really like the Peerless xxls sub on paper. And I would LOVE to hear one. I would pick one up, but I don't want to insult it by running it with my Diamond D6 compononts. It deserves better hehehehehehe.

Not many of these out there at $700 to $800 a piece. If you want something to equal the quality of your system, this would be it.

A Utopia won't let you impress the friends in a parking lot though .. and surely won't rock out to some tribal on a late night sunday ride if your beatin on it.
Excellent SQ sub .. just no headroom for this application.

Guys I have choosen a sub based on research I have complied. I going with a brand that is very mainstream but the sub I have chosen is from their elite line of equipment. Thanks everyone for your help.

For top SQ with a dual voice coil is tough. Most of your top of the line manufaturuers don't use dual voice coils in their sub lines. One sub taht I can suggest is the Boston G510 dual 4 ohm sub. It is a very tight and loud sub. I had one of these in my Xterra being fed 400 watts sealed in .75 cu ft and it was so damn clean. I can just imagine another 200 watts into it....... <drools>
Here's the Boston G5 sub (also comes dual 2 ohm):

If you are willing to go with single 4 ohm coils, look at Vifa/Peerless/ScanSpeak subs. Here is their newest design that has gotten some nice feedback from what I've read:
