Default antenna not detected!

Hello fellow Zs & Gs...Noob here with an Audiovox Sirius Satellite Radio problem. The Audiovox I have, model# SIRPNP3 (Sirius Satellite Receiver) keeps telling me that it can't detect the antenna. Is this a common thing? If so, what can I do. I know you can attached an antenna and locate it outside the car, but my receiver sit in its mobile deck so no extra port. Sometime when I wiggle the receiver in its deck I can get reception, but very soon after I'll lose it. Do you think the mobile deck is to blame? Well... any suggestions/answers would greatly be appreciated.

From one enthusiast to another thanks!

It could be the connection at the deck or you are pinching/splicing a wire. The second is the most common.

The Sirus was installed when I bought the car. I will check the wires. What and where should I look for?

Probably time for a new unit, I work at a stereo shop on the weekends and we pretty much stopped selling Sirius tuners, they have a lot of problems with their equipment. Call Sirius and complain, they will more than likely send you a new receiver if you mention canceling your sub. If they do send you another unit, ask them who is gonna pay to have it installed and they will send you an installcard that can be used for installation.

Any pinches where something was smashed against it or anywhere that you may see the coating scraped off the wire. In my experience those antennas are VERY sensitive to stuff like that.

Driven1...I found the pinch! It was right underneath the mount. I gave the antenna wires a little tug and it came lose. Now my Satellite works fine with the occasional Acquiring Signal.

Much thanks from your fellow enthusiast!

BTW last night a fellow coworker/friend and I did a late night run through some winding roads. With your suggestion, I was able to blast my radio up. Without it, I think... I would of and entering into some of the turns.

For future reference. When it says " Antenna not detected", it's the antenna and it usually needs replaced or in the near future. If it says Acquiring signal, it's the satellites and theres really nothing you can do.
