Default Sub Not Loud Enough on Radio

I have a new Alpine CD player and I hooked it up to a MTX 2 channel amp for an Infinity Recerence 10" sub. I know this combo used to pound in my Camaro but now it isn't very loud. I think the problem is that the headunit isn't letting the amp and sub be much louder than the headunit is turned up to. How can I make the sub louder and not have to crank up the head unit? It sounds awesome when the headunit is turned up about 2x as much as I usually have it. When I have it at normal listening I can barely hear the sub.

if you guys looked at the response curve of radio versus cd this fact becomes rather apparent, the radio signal is no where near hte flat plane the cd response is, it usually has a dip in the bass region, often severe dip...

unless your subsystem is capable of doing htis, one thing you can try is to turn up the bass on the radio section to compenstate...but tha tonly takes you so far...

do you have a remote bass control upfront? either in a module from the amp or in the headunit menu?

I've done all that and it isn't loud. I can't turn up the bass on the headunit too much because then it puts too much bass out to the factory door speakers. If I crank the radio up there is tons of bass but it will blow my door speakers.

Might have to do with the box that you're using. Elaborate on what enclosure you have now vs what you had in the camaro. This is probably the biggest difference in your sound problem.

Alpine CDE 9852. I'm using this in the stock bose location mounted on to the panel. I put it back in the box and it sounds about the same. My Panasonic unit was really loud compared to this?

Well I'll still say it's the box unless there is something terribly wrong with one of your parts. The stock location is going to be horrible.

No, I just can't hear it at all. My stock speakers are putting up 2x more bass than the sub is.

Hmm. Maybe there's a problem with the amp.
