Stealth install with slim drivers.
Ive been lurking for a while looking for ideas on what to do with a clients vehicle at our shop.
He already had a Pioneer In-Dash unit and his goals were pretty straightforward.
1. Great Sound Quality.
2. Come up with a install he hadn't seen in a Z before.
3. Keep it on a budget (stay within price requirements)
4. Don't lift the floor and keep storage in the back.
5. Keep it stealth and OE Looking.
6. As little modifcation as possible to the vehicle.
7. Add Back-Up Camera
8. Add IPOD controller for the Pioneer unit already installed.
Equipment used.
2 x SQ10 S2
2 x NINe.2
1 x 6500s Set
eDead v4
MDF + OE Carpet.
IPOD Integration from Pioneer
BackUp camera from Pioneer

eDi 6500s Installation :
Stock vs. eDi 6500s

Doors + Simple spacer and straightforward deadening.

Tweeters went right up into the factory location with some backstrap to lock them into place.

The window track was a little tricky so a tab was removed from the mid. This was done on each one for each door. Really easy and took only a few minutes to do.

The substage / Amp install is what I really like
Mock up :

The frame sits right inside the Left and Right foam peices which were actually covered after this was done to match the rest of the vehicle.
Fitment before carpet.

Wiring Locations :

After wrapping the inserts and doing fitment before amp wiring & Trim :

Amp / Sub Installed w/ Trim w/out covers installed.

The cover peices also had grills cut into them. So essentially it is a cover peice but it isn't just a peice of wood. You can see in one of the covers here the ridges where it's meant to let air pass.

Light has to hit it JUST right to see it. Here are the finished covered pictures.

The covers are in 2 peices also. Here is a pic with the top cover over the subs so you can see how it fits over the factory plastic peices.

My favorite picture. Customer wasn't sure if we even worked on the car or not when he first saw it

If you have any questions please ask. This car like the s2000 was a lot of fun. Sounds great and is really straight forward.

Very clean install. I'm not a fan of the flip up screen, but that was already in the car. But otherwise I like all that was done. Is the spare intact under the amp rack? or did that need to come out?
