Default Help..Alpine amp with Polk Momo

I am checking to see if the Alpine MRP-F250 4/3/2 channel power amp has sufficient power for a pair of Polk MMC6500 components as well as a pair of Polk MMC650.

The specs on the amp:

RMS Power (at 14.4V THD+N, 20Hz-20kHz)
Per channel into 4 ohms: 40W x 4 (0.08% THD)
Per channel into 2 ohms: 50W x 4
Brigded 4 ohms: 180W x 2

The Alpine amp link: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=MRP-F250

The Polk MMC6500 link: http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/specs/mmc6500/

The Polk MMC650 link: http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/mmc650/

Any help would be appreciated

well the MMC6500 handle 125w RMS and that amp only puts out 40RMS. Yeah it will run them but you will be running the amp at 100% which will distort that crap out of it. A general rule of thumb is you want to match the RMS of the speakers with the RMS of the amps. Or even better get an amp that overpowers the speakers so you can turn the gain on the amp way down and get super clean power. I would look at the F-545 amp to power those.

Do you think the alpine MRP-F450 would be sufficient?

Here is the link to the amp: http://www.alpine-usa.com/US-en/prod...model=MRP-F450

both amps are okay...what has been said is true, if you use an amp that matches the speakers rating, or exceeds it, andt uen it well, it will sound better...

but honestly, the MMC is nothing really special and espeically if yuo are just putting it in the stock location, i really dont think you need anywhere near the 125 watts its rated at, whcih acutally, come to think of it, is kinda high for htat speaker IMO

So, I should not need anymore than the MRP-F450 to run the Polk MMC6500 components as well as a pair of Polk MMC650?

Thanks for the patience in helping out the newbie

i am saying you will be fine, the polk SR are just you run of hte mill comp set IMO...and if you are on a budget, no need to spend more cash...the amp you are listing will make them sound pretty good, not t othe best of their ability but pretty decent.

if you were looking for really good sound qualtiy to the point of thinking about dynamic headroom and all that stuff, i think the SR is the line that you would be looking at from Polk, not the Momo stuff

I have the momos already so I am not in a position to change them just yet. I figured that the amp Alpine MRP-F250 was just not giving enough power as the midbass is a bit sorry desite all of the tuning.
