Default Some advice from the pros

I just ordered the Pioneer 6800 does anyone have experience with this in a Z?? Also is there anyway to custom fabricate a false radio face plate that snaps in around it? I saw this on a Maxima once. a person had a 7in Nav setup I think it was Z1 and they had a false Bose face plate that made it look stock when parked. Also is the 6800 a good system cause i dont want to spend 2500 on Z2. I can spend less than half that for the 6800. I just hope there will be a add on in future to make it Nav capable.

Im also thinking 2 JL audio 8" W7s but thats later

the 6800 is a great piece if nav isn't important to you. The only draw back is the 2v pre outs if you are running a high end audio system. Pionner makes that piece Nav ready, but the problem is getting the nav for it. All of their units now that have nav come with it rather than an add-on module like they used to. If you can find one of there older stand alone navs (pre AVIC era) it will work, but you will obviously need an updated nav disc. And what you will end up spending to make that unit NAV, is equal to...or more than you would have spent on a Z2. Your other option is to look at the Kenwood DNX which will give you a double din with nav in the price range you are looking at.

Sorry but I am very new to car audio - what are the restrictions/drawbacks for 2v pre outs? I am deciding between a Kenwood DDX8019 and 7019 and it seems this is one of the differences.

I am running the 6800 and it haves 4v pre outs . and about the nav add on pioneer still makes one for it , or you can go on ebay and find one like i did for 150.00. any way I can say I love the pioneer 6800, factory fit ,screen has a great picture and the sound is amazing from the regular speaker out wires. And if you add amps it sounds even better with great clarity. but I am running an xtant 604 for my highs and mids , soon I'll be adding 2 xtant1000 to power 2 eight inch solo baric l7 behind the seats and 2 more l7 12's in the trunk, highly recomend imo.
