AMP upgrade done
PICS TO FOLLOW TOMORROW
Replaced my 2 VERY old Carver amps with a Rockford Fosgate P450.4
Pulled my rear channel amp out
Replaced my Rockford Fostgate P3001 with a P600.1
Move my crossovers to where the rear channel amp was
I must be losing my enthusiam for this kinda work.
Little glitches here and there. Quick disconnects I picked were crap and didn't work, had to go back in and remove and use the old way, strip, twist and tape.
Inadvertenly used the old rear channel RCA cables to feed the sub amp
Some kind of funkiness was going on with the RF P450.4. I had it in bridged mode and the balance control was wacked.
Got everything fixed but discovered, to my dissapointment, that the RF
P450.4, when in bridged mode, provides two MONO channels.
Great for a sub amp but not for fronts. So, either I just live with it as a two channel amp at a quarter of the power I was hoping for or use it to run my Boston Acoustics Z6's in BI-AMP mode
Seems misleading. Nowhere did I notice the thing about the bridged channels operating in MONO in any of the pre-sales info but then again I wasn't looking for that either.
Overall, it does sound better
, it certainly looks better
, the Carvers were beat up pretty good, everything matches and I carpeted the spaces for a cleaner look.
Should have done more of my research homework...
PICS tomorrow, just wanted to dump.

73 watts x 4 channels @ 4 ohms
122 watts x 4 channels @ 2 ohms
244 watts x 2 channels @ 4 ohms bridged
run the amp @ 73 watts x 4 channels @ 4 ohms and you will have real nice sound
i don't feel it is misleading , this info is posted under amp specs on their website

4 Channels is my plan and am going to set the xovers to BiAmp mode. Minimum hassle for max gain. The xovers are just on the other side of the divider between the compartments so it's a very short run of additional speaker wires.
Now that I think about it, with the separate gain controls and crossover adjustments for front and rear channels I could do a litle more tailoring of the sound. I don't think I'll put alot into that but probably just tinker with it some.
While fiddling around I upped the gain on the sub-amp. Not much, just a little, need to back it down to probably less than the 12 oclock position of the **** (default setting). Seems to over power everything so for the moment I turned down the remote all the way and backed off on the head unit's sub out setting.
Here's the pics as promised:
The P450.4 behind the driver's seat (note my funky little legs for cooling)

The P600.1, the xovers and the Sirius tuner in the glove box area.
