question about factory non bose headunit?

question about factory non bose headunit?
is the headunit from a non bose 350z powered by an external amp? reason is i had my focal speakers powered by my kenwood headunit in my is300 well i put the exact same setup in the z except it doesnt sound that great at all. the only diffrence on the z i wired up the aftermarket harness but on the lexus i ran speaker wires strait from the door to the headunit. thats why im wondering if there is an external amp powering the factory unit. thanks
