Default Pioneer Sub in Stock Location

I bought this sub today to install in the stock location behind the driver's seat.
http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Pione...oductDetail.do
It has a plastic ring on the mounting surface that preventds the stock Bose cover from sitting all the way down.

Does anyone know if this ring can be removed and how to renove it?

night and day difference from factory location.
+1, that sub will sound a whole lot better in a sealed enclosure.

Don't waste your time putting it in the stock location. You will have to pay more to move it like everyone else here. Trust me, I moved it under strut and no comparison. Behind the seat is directional and horrible for sound quality while in the rear backfiring fills the cabin good. Do some research before installing it.

9 times out of 10 that outer ring is a part of or is glued to the surround.
