Default Onlinecarstereo.com any good ??

Anyone have experience ordering speakers, amps, HU's from these guys ? They seem to have the best or nearly the best prices on most stuff.

I have heard stories of people receiving items with the serial numbers scratched off from that vendor. I personally would go with www.woofersetc.com or www.cardomain.com since both are very reputable, have great pricing, and are even authorized vendors for a good portion of what they sale which means you get grade A stock, warranty, and not supporting grey market goods.

Hey fella's, you really got to support your local brick and mortal stereo shops. Or pretty soon you wont have that option. Yes I work at one part time and I work for beans so my boss can focus on his business. The unauthorized internet vendors are making it really hard to stay in business. It's hard enough to compete with CC and BB without un-authorized internet dealers selling gear with serial numbers shaved off.

Here is a list of UN-Authorized internet dealers from MTX's website.

Unauthorized Online Resellers
Acaraudio.com
Woofersetc.com
Outerlimitsaudio.com
Audiocarplus.com
Etronics.com
Hookedontronics.com
Techronics.com
Onlinecarstereo.com
LightAV.com
Allcarstereo.com
SuperCrewSound.com
SonicElectronics.com
Garrett-SmartHome.com
SonicElectronix.com
TecBuyz.com
CarAudioImage.com
DimensionAudio.com
InfiniteCarAudio.com
USCarAudio.com
Discountjungle.net
Unauthorized eBay Resellers
Nationalaudiocenter

If you have any problems with the equipment purchased from any of these vendors, good luck getting help because its between you and them as the manufacturer will not help you. Now this list is from MTX but I'd be willing to bet they aren't authorized to sell alot of gear they carry.

If you dont have a local shop then you have little choice but I would go to crutchfield.com or cardomain.com as they are authorized online retailers and the manufacturers will assist you if you have problem with gear purchased from either one.
Have a read:
http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/notAutho...rorStories.cfm

Sure I'm biased, and I'm sure you can get some gear from them on the cheap, but you better be prepared if the dice dont roll in your favor. It's an expensive lesson to learn.

Just my and I'll get off the soap box now.. sorry for the rant

I agree, but cardomain is a good site and woofersetc is also a good site. The latter is not authorized by MTX, but is an authorized vendor for a lot of their gear and from experience personally and from others at www.nasioc.com they have been very reliable and deal in grade A product. However, unless you have references from those you trust I would not order from any site. Especially when you can give Nazar and call, he has beat almost everyone's price or come close enough where the extra money is worth knowing that it is from an authorized seller and someone who is going to back the product and you. If anything at least give your local guy a try, usually when you are buying a whole system they will give you a decent discount.

Thanks for the input guys. I would really prefer to support the local shop and buy locally, but the price difference is so great, the consumer is almost force not to. The local store will not match any online deal. They will not come down from their advertised price AT ALL. They want to sell me speakers for $400 which I can purchase online for $248. HU for $350, online is $250. Amp $500, online $380. For that much difference in loot and the fact they wont deal even a little, I dont have alot of sympathy for them. Still have to talk to the install guy though. Maybe he will give a better install price if I buy the items from their store ??

My shop encourages me to buy online.......

I've had great experiences with cardomain/sounddomain, woofersetc.com, and onlinecarstereo.com

Just received a nice order yesterday from soundomain to finish up my install in my boat...

Where are you in NC? I can point you to one of the best installers in the biz and he could care less where you got your equipment.

I have heard shady things about them before as well, but I have bought from them multiple times in the past without any problems. I will most likely do business with them in the future.

See, that local store needs to be a little more flexable. You have to decide at what point someone going to walk out and buy elsewhere. My boss will always break out the calculator and try to work with people to get their business, but we wont match online purchases because sometimes online vendors sell for less than what it costs us to buy (mostly they're buying repaired units, sometimes repaired, sometimes not) If they aren't authorized dealers getting their equipment from distributors that deal directly with the manufacturers, where are they getting it from?

If you bring in equipment not purchased at the store, we charge more to install it.

A local shop:
  1. Rent or buy a location with a showroom and installation bay/s
  2. Pay insurance
  3. Buy inventory to display and selling (sometimes some things will sit on the shelf for a year or more) Thats alot of money that could be generating interest or newer gear.
  4. Outfit the showroom with display aids (cases, display stands etc)
  5. Pay installers and sales staff
  6. Buy advertising (the web isnt very good for local shops)
  7. Buy a full range of tools and accessories to facilitate installations
  8. Pay Utilities
  9. Pay shipping
  10. Compete with other stores in the area that want to take your brands to put you out of business (we just lost MTX, another store in the next town insisted the Distibutor take the brand from us, ******!)
  11. Can sell to people who walk in the door
An online vendor:
  1. Make a webpage or eBay account and pay to have it hosted and registered
  2. Pay auction fees
  3. Can order equipment as its ordered from the webpage (I'm sure some of the better ones have some form of inventory)
  4. Spend the day reading email and taking trips to the UPS or fed ex store
  5. Pay utilities (rent in their own apartment?)
  6. Pay Shipping
  7. Can sell to people all over the world
There's a lot more costs involved with running a local shop and what they have to charge to stay in business. When you are an authorized dealer you HAVE to charge a specific price or you forfeit your authorized dealer status. I feel you with the cost difference, hell I work at the shop for the discount, not the pay. Just dont be too bitter torwards your local shop for what they charge they dont have much of a choice. But as I said above, they should work with you, not try to make a point by not budging on the price.

After all, once the local shops are gone, where are you going to go to get installs done? If you mention fiberglass to Best Buy or Circuit City and they'll tell you to hit the local home depot for insulation.

It's a shame really, and I'm not looking down on anyone for online shopping, because at the end of the day it all comes down to the dollar. Just becareful and choose your online vendor carefully (woofersetc has gotten some really positive feedback from people here).

I wish you were all closer to my shop so we could treat you right.
