AVIC D2 - What all do I need?
I have the Pioneer AVIC D2 and I am trying to gather all the extra parts I need to get what I want. I have a 2006 with bose and this is what I want to end up with:
1. Use with current Bose system - I need PAC OEM-1 or OEM-2?
2. Keep steering wheel controls - PAC SWI-PS
3. Use Navi while moving - Install bypass
4. Connect iPod - use the aux connection? Ive heard the other ipod interfaces are terribly slow. Id rather use the ipod interface, but not if its so slow I want to shoot myself.
I have done tons of searching, but I wanted to confirm this stuff before I purchased everything.
Also, I will probably have someone install this for me. I wonder what the chance is that the company will do the bypass for me?

From experience (I have a D1) the IPOD interface is slow as dirt...it's kinda ghetto but get the converter from radioshack, its $20 give or take and all it does it convert the IPOD from the audio/video jack into RCA's.
It works great, and the bypass is just grounding the parking brake wire to itself, lol...its ghetto also, other then that, your good to go.

I've got a D1 as well. I ran an Aux jack instead of the adaptor. You have to use the Ipod, but it's reallt not that bad. Make some good playlists thats all.
Love My setup. My Fav is that the Carbon Gauges match the Interior nicely.

I am also pretty scared to try the install of all this stuff (XM, gps, head unit, ipod, etc, etc)... but then again I dont want to pay $200-$300 bucks.
I see there are a lot of DIY tutorials, but I have never done any car audio installs before. I guess I could just take a day and do it.
