Understand that you're destroying your ears so choose each song carefully - it may be the one that destroys your hearing forever. I remember mine well - it was a Japanese press virgin vinyl copy of Phil Collins Susudio back in 1984 or '85 played back using a Studer-Revox linear turntable, Yamaha C-1 pre-amp, M-70, and M-80 power amplifiers into some Infinity RS-3's with an 18" VMPS "large" sub-woofer. The ringing in my ears hasn't stopped in the 22 years since. You eventually get use to the hearing loss and sleeping gets easier after a few years. Inside the tiny volume of a car the sound pressure levels are 10 to 20 dB higher meaning the loss will come hundreds of times sooner.

 

I "hear" ya... I've been into systems since I was 17. I'm 29 now and haven't had a decent one in a while, but I do remember the risk of hearing damage. Can't help it though- I love my bass... Phil Collins FTL btw..
