Default Alarm with Remote Start?

Hi, I have an 07 6spd, and I want to install an alarm with Remote Start. I know that's difficult with a manual transmission, but has anyone done this? If so, what's the best alarm with Remote Start? Any suggestions? Thanks!

viper alarm system is good, just don't leave your car in gear ... otherwise you'll start chasing your car.

you should check out CompuStar. I know they make ones for stick shift cars.

Most installers will refuse to install a remote start on a manual transmission car, too much liability. Good luck finding one that will. And if you do find one they're probably not that reputable to begin with...

you're absolutely right.

i have an 07 6mt with remote start.

viper 791XV. works great. There has been a few times I've started my car in gear, but if you're fast enough you can turn it right off. It'll just jerk like you stalled.

the shop that had mine done, didn't give me a receipt. They did decent work but isn't that reputable. most shops refuse to do it without a doubt. it's not difficult, but they're going to require a spare key for the brain.

I have the compustar. Its nice. There is no way you can leave it gear and start it. There is a way you have to "set" it, which is you have to have it out of gear, foot on the brake and lift the e-brake before you turn the key off. I have it set to run until i close my door. Then it is set and you can remote start it.

It cost $499 installed, but well worth it IMO. It has a LCD pager that warns you of anything. Works pretty good. I also have this system on my honda.

Compustar is the only authorized remote start for manuals!

The Z has a Park/Neutral Position switch that goes to ground whenever the manual transmission is in Neutral. Using this signal you can wire up your Viper alarm to ONLY remote start when in neutral, and without doing all those annoying steps that Compustar requires.

Grab a service manaul and look up the ECU wiring, the wire goes between the tranny and the ECU.

I have the CompuStar, was pretty dam expensive though, but the only way of safely doing your car with auto start. It will not start if the car is not in nuetral. There is series of steps you have to do in order for auto start to work. I got it with the proximity sensor, and love the alarm. It took some tweaking to get the sensors rite, but it was all worth it.

The viper alarm is good, but does not have the same features as the compustar i think the compustar is the best bet.

what is a proximaty is that when it goes off or chirps when somebody is close? If so can you turn that off sometimes like if you park where you know somebody will park next to you? I am always in the very back of parking lots but sometimes its unavoidable and id hate for it to go off all the time for no reason.

To answer your question yes. The Compustar allows you to turn off the Shock Sensors. It will still go off if someone breaks in and will still chirp at you if someone bangs the car. But will not go off for any lil thing. Personally I like knowing when someone parks rite next to me. But I have mines set that it will go off when you get close enough to the car. Even if someone parks next to you they shouldnt be putting there head by the window you feel me?

Compustar is not the only alarm designed to work with manual transmissions. The Clifford Intellistart is specifically designed to work on manual transmissions when used with a Clifford G5 or G4 alarm system. Clifford already had this technology before Directed bought them out, and Directed still offers this product. The only problem is the same as the compustar, you must follow quite a few steps for it to operate.

you just have to bypass the clutch start and never leave your car in gear and you will be fine.

If I were ever to do remote start again..I would stick with Compustar! I had a bad experience with the clifford remote start while my car was at the dealership...lets just say the tech or service advisor "forgot" that the e-brake was disengaged and the car was in gear...then "accidentally" activated the remote start while the car was in reverse gear. then thats where the story goes down hill..."VRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMM...BAMM MMMMMMMMMMMMM"

I also had the Clifford at 1 point on a Celica. Not fun chasing after your car in the Mall Parking Lot. Not fun when it hit someones car and the driver was scared ****less why the car was driving on its own.

The steps to use autostart are simple and should be practiced anyway. Pull emergency brake make sure car is in nuetral. Release Brake Pedal you will here a click you can now turn your car off. The car will remain on when you shut it off. When you close the door the car will shut off and arm itself. I think its pretty cool. Its funny how people always go hey you left your car on. LOL
