Default Considering zenclosure.. New to audio and need advice

I just picked up a 350z, made a thread about possible audio problems I am having with static over the local channels. I am also considering one of the zenclosures I see in some of your cars. Problem is, what subs and amp do I get? My old civic had two 12" bostwick subs and bostick amp that I bought cheap from a friend. Loved them, only aftermarket car audio I've owned though. Iam considering JL audio, but would like to know what works and what types of prices I should expect. Not wanting to blow the car apart, just something mid range and mid priced.

JL seems quite expensive to me. Find out what your budget is, and go from there. Just stick with a name brand and you should be fine. From what I gather, people like us who just need decent setups and are not audiophiles should be fine with one ten or twelve with a zenclosure and a matching amp. The Z has a small interior cabin and I can guarantee that it will be loud with anything over 300 watts rms. The people over at crutchfield.com chat with conviction, and are very helpful with providing advice.

The previous owner did replace the factory 10" with a Diamond sub, seems to be decent, but I still want the subs to be where the zencloser puts them. Looks sweet there. Yeah I think my 12" bostwicks were 200 RMS each and they did the job.

def figure out a budget and then figure out what components you want to replace...do you just want to replace the sub or all the speakers and headunit as well?

You lose the whole reason why a system hits in a Z- the hatch...

JL audio will run good with the Z Enclosure, due to the fact that the enclosure runs a little short on air space, and the JL audio brand does not require a surplus of room to operate sufficiently. I run Kicker Comp's in my encloser and a JL Audio behind my seat. No compalints, sounds good. Make sure to fill the inside of the box with cotten to help with the lack of airspace. Will provide you with a much more solid hit, instead of over flex due to improper air space.

Why type of music do you listen to? That's the biggest factor when considering the ZEnclosures box. Even with subs that require less space, you may not get the frequencies that you want with it.

Thanks for all the help so far. Actually, I really wont be going for anything major. With the sub box, id like to only spend $750 with 2 10" and the amp. I need to check to specs on the amp for the diamond, maybe it is a 2 channel or something. I usually listen to alternative rock, not much rap or really heavy bass. Again, just going for a little bump. The diamond pushes pretty good for one sub, another of it's kind would suit me depending on the expense.

That other one stick in the trunk space too much. Doing the Zenclosure because I really do need the space in that trunk without a back seat anymore.

There is a shop here that I hear good things about, Cincinnati Automotive Customs. If anyone has any feedback from them, that would be awesome. Might have them install the subs, maybe even buy two new ones from them and amp.
