does the iphone use the same cable input as the ipod? If I have a USAspec ipod adaptor in my z, will it also work with the iphone? Can I control music and charge an iphone at the same time?

 

the iphone uses the standard dock connector, it should work.

 

yes it is the same cable, but i believe only pioneer will work with the iphone. i tried to use it with a kenwood system and the iphone did not work

 

i have an iphone and for now the ipod cables only seem to charge the phone, the cable in my car will not play music from the iphone through the stereo. I think they could fix this problem with a software upgrade for the phone- but as of my last upgrade the problem had not been fixed.

 

The Kenwood units will support the Iphone using the KCAIP500 Ipod interface. It just will not work using the KCAIP200 or KCAIP300V cables.

 

I know at our last meet we tried plugging my buddies iPhone into one of those iTowers, to play music, and it would not play music through it. Not sure why, but I'm thinking it may not work in this case either.

 

When I connect my iPhone to a AVIC Z1 music plays through the stereo, but the Z1 iPod controls don't work. I have to control the music from the iPhone.

 

I have the Alpine W-200. My Iphone plugged into the Cable adapt. no problem and also charges the Iphone. The Alpine plays the music off the Iphone and also all controls/functions are still avail on the headunit. The only difference I saw when plugging the Iphone into the Alpine,,,a message on my Iphone came up and said,,,"cannot accept the video function" My older "photo Ipod" didnt have video's,,,so it didnt bother me.
For some reason I/they wanted to watch a video,,,I would use the DVD player.."for the passenger"...<G>

So my experience with the Alpine W-200,,my Iphone works just like my Ipod with the headunit. But, "without the video". Again,,all function and controls are avail on the headunit and it charges as well. Sorry if I am redundant,,,,,I worked till 4am this morning on Oct 15th,,Tax extension deadlines for my clients...

 

from what ive been seeing, iphone integration is entirely hit and miss thus far.

but im sure we are soon to see HU's that will integrate with the phone.

 

iPhone works fine with my Panasonic HU/iPod adapter...the screen does say incompatible device, but it still works fine.

 

I have an 04 Touring with the Bose system and the USAspec ipod adaptor. My friend plugged her iphone in and it played and charged fine. It sounded so good I went out and both an Ipod, it sounds better than the mp3 player I was using. I guess that's because the ipod doesn't use the headphone jack to connect like a mp3 player.
