Default Quick HU Install question

I'm in the process of installing my new HU. I've followed the instructions from this site:

http://liljerk.morpheus.net/350Z/dash_removal/

... on how to remove the old one. In the picture below...

The instructions say to remove the antenna and the two connectors. My 04 also has a connected plugged into the third white socket. There's nothing in the new wiring harness for that third connector so I'm assuming it's not used.

Based on the pin-outs in the FSM, it looks like stuff related to the Navi and probably more but since I don't have the OEM navi, I assume it's okay to leave it unconnected when I put the new HU back in, correct?

Thanks - Dave

Yeah Dave, I only used one of the connectors from my wire harness adapter because I'm not using the speaker wire output on the HU. It kind threw me off for a sec but realized that it would work just fine that way.

Greg - what install kit did you use? Metra or another? Mine came with the American International face plate and theres a big gap between the top and bottom of the plate and the HU. I thought I had heard that the Metra fit a little better.

The Metra kit fits PERFECT.

I got it from an audio shop on Florida between Sherwood and Flannery. I think it was Musso's but I'm not 100% sure.

I'm not sure how far away that is from you but that was one of the only places that had a DD kits. Although, you could just ask any shop if its a Metra kit since its for both SD and DD.

Ahhh.. the sweet sound of success. It seems to be working fine and no CEL or anything stupid. I need to stick the GPS antenna on the dash and it will be ready for the road. Looks like I've got a litte reading to do tonight to figure this puppy out.

Does it matter which direction the antenna is oriented, i.e. if the wire sticks out the back, side or front?

I've tried mine in different directions to see if it made a difference and I didn't notice any. I'm assuming its the same but I don't have the same HU.

My NAV is weaksauce compared to the Kenwood but having an iPhone helps
