I was wondering if the sound quality will be good??

I have a friend with a GS400 with a 12, and it sounded like ****...

I have a friend with a 07 3 series BMW with 2 10s and factory everything else, that sounds perfect.

I hear if your happy with your highs, it will sound good... Let me know

My plan is to have a JL Audio w7 10, with a JL 500/1 amp. Later, I plan to upgrade the mids and highs and headunit. I just dont want too much base.

 

The Bose system is custom equalized or "tuned" to match the cabin of the Z. It's also tuned to compensate for the **** poor quality of the speaker elements that they put in. They should be ashamed at the poor quality of the speakers. Unfortunately I don't know where the tuning is done to the signals - it could be done in the head end or in the amplifiers. If I was a betting man I'd put $7 on the head end and $3 on the amplifiers.

Once you alter the system - improving the speakers - the wacky equalization that Bose put in to compensate for the weaknesses of their system is now going to boost and cut your otherwise fine sounding speakers making them sound bad. JL Audio makes and adapter which will counter-equalize the head end if you're really in love with it. It's not cheap, in fact you could replace the head end for the price of it.

 

i agree if your gonan replace part of the sound system id just go ahead and do it all. Thats what i decided to do.
