Hiss from Eclipse nav.
Just bought a new 06 roadster and had an eclipse nav with bluetooth, sirius and ipod installed. On all accessories I hear a low level hiss. Sometime it gets a bit louder, like waves coming in. The installer said I had to live with it due to the Bose amp unless I rewired the car and put in a new amp and speakers. I find it hard to believe. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks for any help.
Thanks for any help.
THEDUKE hit it on the head, he just straight wired it to the bose, whcih results in a contant HISS at all volume levels...basically, the bose headunit sends a very low level signal ot the bose amp, whcih gets amplified, the new headunit is not sending a MUCH more powerful signal to the bose amp, and as a result, similar to having hte gain up too high on any amp, there is a constant HISS...
basically you need an adapter that allows you to turn the output level coming from the eclipse headunit DOWN. the pac audio one is one way, the one i been using is the scosche piece:

get that piece, take it back to your installer, and use that, and he can individually adjust the gains on each channel to get rid of hte HISS, though you may experience slightly less overall output than stock.
