Default escort says service required?

Hey i have had my passport 8500 for like 3 years maybe more now. I got in my car today turned it on and it blinks service required, and beeps. Unplugged it let it sit for a while then same thing happened. So i blew it all out with my air in can for cleaning my keyboard and nothing i did worked? Is it just time to upgrade to a 9500 or is there a solution to this problem?

this is going to sound off topic, but your title sounded like a "massage parlor" and "full service..."

Mine did the same thing. Cartoys had to send it out for repairs. Thank GOD for extended warranty.

I guess if your warranty expired, maybe its time for a 9500?

Both great but the ramp up sucks like no other on the 9500i, meaning it will start with a couple of slow beeps, then all of sudden go to full alert... So you don't really get a good idea of how far away the cop is. Both have great range, but the 9500i barely falses at all (especially compared to the V1).

I have the V1 and like it a lot, but I'll prolly try the 9500i too b/c of how quiet the detector is supposed to be.

ok now i cant make up my mind lol 9500i or valentine. The v1 is upgradeable right? so ill never have to buy another one as long as it stays unbroke correct. Cause i know my luck ill spend 500 bucks on a 9500 and in 2 years they will have a 9700 lol.

Yes the v1 is upgradeable, but there is a fee when you upgrade. It's cheap though ~$40 or so.

Ok both companies have a 30 day money back guaruntee, so try both out, and send back the loser for a full refund.

Don't run them at the same time though, they will mess e/o up (not permanently but they won't work as they should while they are both on near e/o).

i sympathize there. i hate outsourced customer service! you never know though, they may be able to offer you a cheap upgrade or something in lieu of fixing yours.
