This is a 2 part question. I am looking into buying a video camera for track, dragon, drivng days. My first question is what camera would you guys recommand, it doesn't have too cost alot, just something simple.Second question is what looks better, the camera mounted outside the car or it mounted inside the car. What video have you like the best

 

There are a number of MP4 recording cameras which will dump 20-40 minutes worth of video on a 2-4 Gb compact flash chip. They are very small and lightweight.

Mount them where you can see what you want to record. I would mount the thing in several places to make "b roll" to insert into the main outside the car shot. Close ups of the hands on the steering wheel, clutch/brake pedals, of the front wheels responding to driver inputs, and of the driver's face watching the road (or chatting on the cell phone!).
