Default In-Dash DVD LCD or In-Dash Flip out DVD?

Which one is better? I'm going to get one today just thought I would get some opinions before I grab one.

STYLE ONE:

STYLE TWO: FLIP

I have an Eclipse AVN7000 single din unit installed in my '05. It is a flip out screen w/ Nav etc. The unit is great but after a year in the car I am looking at replacing it with Eclipse's AVN661 which is a double din unit. I think the double din unit gives an OEM look. Also I found that with the flip screen in the open position I could not reach my cubby storage ( kinda annoying when you are at a toll bridge!!) I would suggest you go with the double din set-up. If security is an issue I have seen set-ups where there is a false front plate put over the unit for when the car is parked.

I never did car audio before whole new field for me. I'm guessing the double din is the LCD non flip up screen?

Yes that is correct. With the single din unit you will have an open pocket underneath the unit. That can filled with a center channel speaker, covered with a plate or left open. The double din unit will be a direct replacement of the stock unit. The great thing is that the aftermarket units have more functions available. I would suggest you get Nav if you can afford it. IMHO it's worth EVERY penny. A Panasonic or Eclipse unit has the Nav built-in. The Panasonic Avic Z-3 gets good reviews, while for Eclipse the AVN 6611 is the hot ticket. Think through what functions you want and let that guide your decision. You should be able to get Ipod control, Nav, along with mp3 etc at a reasonable price. If the new units are too expensive go the marketplace section and look for a nice used unit. For between $600-900 you should be able to get something really nice.
