Default Where to mount jl 500/1?

I'm gonna buy the wicked cas glovebox box, and a JL10W3V3, just thinking of possible places to mount the JL 500/1 that is the most hidden/stealth. Any suggestions?

won't it get too hot in there? Do I have to fabricate something so that air can flow underneath?

doubt it i have 2 amps one dls 2 channel and one jl 500/1 in my bose cubby it has the perforated door but my seat is usually on it all the time. Ive never had a problem i think it will be fine. A good amp is hard to overheat.

If ur worried get a computer fan and hook up to the 12 volt on wire (takes barely any power at all). I've seen that done before for amps.

install 1st

if it gets hot it will go into thermo protect
then you will know if you need a fan

i have been using and installing car audio since 1986 and never had to instal a fan EVER

you'll be okay

cross the fan bridge if you get to it not before

I've been considering amp locations recently as well. The problem I have with the glove box location is the HD for my NAV system. The amps themselves won't over heat, but who knows what they'll do to the nav computer. I'm considering one under each seat.

i do not like mounting anything under seats

if windows are left open and rain comes ( screwed)

if someone spills a drink ( screwed)

plus hard to access for adjustments

my .02 cents

Good point. Any suggestions? The space behind the sub (under strut box) is where my nitrous bottle is. The area in front of it is my only trunk space. Guess I'm screwed.

1. The hard drive for my nav is in there. I'm concerned the amps will overheat the navigation system.

2. I'd have to remove the stock bose speaker. I suppose I should do it anyway to get rid of the extra weight.

3. I'll check out his enclosures now.

Thanks for tips!

+1 on the locations behind the seats. Stealth, easy to get to, dry, etc. I have my RF amps there which actually have the heat sinks on the bottoms (dumb, I know) so to avoid heat issues, I used longer mounting screws and put little 1" blocks of wood (painted flat black) between the amp mounting points and the MDF mounting surface.
