Default Pac-swix

Anyone have experience with the PAC-SWIX? I'm looking at it for a kenwood DDX7015. The reviews online are so-so, mostly complaining of delay.

Thanks

Yeah, it has a slight delay. You hold each button for about .3 seconds. You can't just flick the switches. But it works well. It's fully programmable, which is nice.

I ordered mine yesterday for my Alpine; ebay has the best deals, avoid the Crutch: $70 vs. $35. All I really want to do is run my iPod through the headunit and retain steering controls. A little delay won't hurt too much.

Yeah there's a slight delay with swix. another thing is that in direct sunlight if it's really bright and my windows are down and the sun is shining on my deck sometimes it doesn't work. If I shade the remote sensor from the sun with my hand it works. That's kind of annoying. But other then that it's great. What's really cool about it is that you can reprogram the steering wheel switches to do anything your remote control will do. Basically when you program the swix and press the steering wheel control just press something else on the remote and that function will be learned.

Why not use this:http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...WIJACK&tp=3405

It doesn't use an infrared transmitter.

Good call except that unit requires a "Wired remote input" which not all headunits have.

Ahh... man, I hope my HU has a wired remote input. I know this is a broad question, but how do I know if it has one? I am installing an Alpine 9813... I have the owner's manual here, but am not sure what I am looking for. The wiring diagram says that the unit has a "Remote Turn-On Lead". Same thing?

Edit: Thats a negative... I need a new HU, which I was going to get anyways.

Default Hey guys...

just reviewing some components and the PAC SWI-JACK online w/ crutchfield. It looks like a lot of you got it to work with the steering wheel controls on the '06 Z. I am looking for this w/ the either the Pioneer AVIC-D3X Package or the Kenwood DNX7100 but it mentions how it's not compatible with my set up on the Z.

Any insight?

* Mike is suppppppper brand new to car audio/video.

you need to get the pac-swix since those decks don't have a jack for a wired remote but use infrared for the remote. i use the pac-swix with my dnx7100 with no problems.

Actually the Pio D3 does indeed have a wired remote input. That's one of the reasons I picked that unit as my HU. So I could use the Pac SWI-PS (Pioneer/Sony) and not the infrared SWI-X.

Sorry to bump and old thread, but, I'm looking to install my old Kenwood KDC-MPV5025 into a 2006 non-bose enthusiast. This single/standard Kenwood has a wireless remote.. so I go for the PAC SWI-X to use my steering wheel controls?
I email PAC and haven't received a reply yet - any help?

Yea, it should work fine if your HU has a wireless IR remote. Mine works fine.

I dunno about your Kenwood, but mine (Excelon KDC-X692) has a VERY limited IR range, so I had to relocate the sensor from right behind the hazard switch all the way next to the cupholders. Other than that, it works fine.......

and yes there is a delay......maybe you can look into a remote adaptor from Kenwood. but it's more expensive of course......
