Default JBL amps?

Anyone have any experience with JBL amps? Thinking of going with a px300.4 and a Bpx1100.1

px300.4 -- 358x2 into 4 ohms
bpx1100.1 -- 1141x1 into 4 ohms

The price and looks of the amps are great so any comments greatly appreciated thx

i dunno, never used one, thought about it a few times but the signal to noise ratio numbers on most of those amps suck. usually <80 db. That always steered me away from them.

Eh performance meets what im looking to install. Trying to slightly overpower the system for efficiency purposes. Need alot of power at 4 ohms for SQ. The looks and optional neon tubes kinda sold me on it (along with a reasonable price).

I want 200+ watts into 4 ohms for components and 1000+ watts into 4 ohms for sub. Price range for 2 amps is trying to be under 1500-2000 dollars. Retail mind you, i want that manufacturers warranty.

Also, if you could track down the old school phoenix gold tantrum, titanium, or xs series of amps you could achieve your goals with little moolah. but they are hard to come by. Crossfire makes some killer amps at killer prices as well.

http://www.edesignaudio.com/edv2/pro...products_id=47

2x200w@4ohms 275 bucks

as for finding a monoblock amp to run 1kw amperage at 4 ohm impedence for less than 1500 bucks in itself is next to impossible. Is there any reason you are wanting to run a 4ohm sub? you can save ALOT of cash on an amp by purchasing a 1 ohm sub, and I doubt you will be able to tell the difference in SQ for the amount of money it will cost.

so, I would pick up the ED amp listed above for componets, pick up a 1ohm sub and ditch the 4ohm idea, grab the single amp on the ED site for 295 bucks and be done.

on your 4 channel amp selection
200 x 4 at 4 ohms is asking alot but

but i would do

Zapco # REF1000.4 $ 699.99
150 watts x 4 @ 4 ohms
250 watts x 4 @ 2 ohms

2nd choice

Hifonics XXV 4 channel Gemini $ 599.99
4 x 125 watts @ 4 ohms
4 x 200 watts @ 2 ohms

3rd
MMats SQ4160 not cheap around $500 to $750
4 x 160 watts @ 4 ohms

mono amps

again 1000 watts at 4 ohms aint easy

your asking for power at higher ohm loads
which is easier on electrical and sounds better
than lower loads

but harder to find and more money

1st choice

sundown SAZ-3000d $1099.00
800 x 1 @ 4 ohms
1600 x 1 @ 2 ohms
3000 x1 @ 1 ohms

2nd

hifonics XXV thor $ 949.99
1200 x1 @ 4 ohms
2300 x 1 @ 2 ohms
3000 x 1 @ 1 ohms

3rd

RD Audio 5750.1 $ 1500 i can get better price i am down with owners
1000 x 1 @ 4 ohms
3000 x 1 @ 2 ohms
5800 x 1 @ 1 ohms

I install car audio for a living so i have what they call a "tuned ear". that being said is why i want more power at higher impendences. Looking into morel supremos for components and i just found out morels coming out with a 12" 1000 rms ultimo subwoofer. I want that thing to be running at 4 ohms. Thanks for all the replies, def gonna look into e-designs, but at the moment im leaning towards the JBL. The bpx1100.1 is part of their crown series and the px300.4 is there power series. Unfortunitly the only 2 channal crown is like over 1000 rms per channal

This is just my opinion...and correct me if you think i am wrong. I find 4 channel amps useless, unless bridged. With music you only get 2 channels (left and right) and unless you are watching surround sound DVD's or HDCDS where each channel has a seperate signal. I find it often cheaper to either buy a high wattage 2 channel amplifier or a 4 channel amplifier in bridged mode to run all 4 sets of componets from, rather than a high wattage, 4 channel amplifier running all sets of componets independently.

400 x 2 @ 2 ohms

in my customers cars i mainly install mono's and 2 channel
