Hood Lock & kill switch
I'm thinking that I need a high end alarm system in my car and thanks to a lot of smart people here, I think that I have that dialed in. One thought is that pros or near pros, would open hood and cut the wires. I see a hood lock that requires a hole in the hood. Thought that I would ask, what you guys think about a hood lock or what have you done.
Also, a number of people have talked about putting in a kill switch, most suggest the fuel line. The alarm company says that their alarm kills the start and don't recommend a fuel line switch. Any comments on this? Thanks

instead of a hood lock, if you are that worried about a thief opening your hood and cutting the power, I would install a 2nd battery in the car with an isolator and run the alarm off that battery. Overall though, if a thief is THAT dedicated to stealing your car, nothing will stop him/her.
yeah, i'm not too worried about them stealing my car, bc i know they'll get to it eventually, but what i'm worried about is them stealing my rims or just vandlizing it. Steal it? go ahead, i've got full coverage. Vandlize it? go ahead, i've got a bat

If I was in your shoes I'd be looking for an electric solenoid to engage a large hood mounted bolt with a matching hole. When power to the ignition is disengaged the pin is at rest inside the bolt hole preventing the hood from lifting. When powered and a button is pushed inside the car the solenoid operates and pulls the pin out of the hole allowing the hood to lift.
One big problem - the the battery dies you're going to have to recharge it from inside the car (easy enough to do with a cigarette lighter plug system) or at least power the car that way to operate the solenoid.
There are mechanical valves that mount in the fuel lines (under the car) and stick up though the bottom of the car to allow you to rotate the valve closed cutting off the fuel. The thief would get a bit down the road before starving the car for fuel. Might be good for a car-jack if you could put the valve somewhere you could get to without being noticed. An electrical one would work too - move a magnet from a hidden reed switch and it closes a valve.
Both of these items are going to be cu$tom in$talled. I use to do crazy wild alarm systems for show cars - ones that are difficult to insure and big targets. Dual batteries, remote pagers, ignition kills, fuel pump kills ... and more layers of defense. Still a pro is going to roll up with a tow truck and ****** the front wheels in under 15 seconds and be gone in 30.
Ok, searched for 45 mins now.. both on here, the service manual and google... is there a hood pin swtich on the 350z? I have the security installer here right now... we cant find the hood pin switch anywhere... looks like the manuals for alarm systems tell of a green wire etc.. but I can not locate the actual switch that determines if the hood is open or not. Any ideas?
