You can get the hu and keep the rest of your stock system. I replaced mine with a Pioneer hu and it sounds better, but not as much as I would like it to.

If you have the Bose system, you will need a special interface adapter that lets an aftermarket HU work with the factory Bose amp...

Most specialist dealers stock them. They are not cheap...plan on spending from $100-150 on one.

Default adapter

i replaced my head unit and kept the stock bose speakers in the doors and the 10" I did not u se any adapter at all and all works fine. All i did was splice the wires on the wiring harness
The only trouble i have now is the reception in reg fm stations. It seem like you do need some kind of adapter for the antenae (sorry bad at spelling)

I read in other post that the antenna might not be long enough to get good reception. people have replaced it with the antenna of a s2k and have not had problems. don't know how much of this is true but I am going to give it a try

yeah, i have heard that also but it just seems to me that the connecter coming from the antenna is not long enough by about a half inch to get a good connection i am trying to find some kind of extension for it.
