1-JL 10W6v2, 500-1000 watts enough bass
Title says it all. I see quite a few 1-3 sub boxes. For excellent and powerful but not booming bass that drowns out all other sounds, is 1 10W6 in a ZEnclosures 1.35 cubic foot box with 500-1000 watts enough. I listen to all types of music but mostly rock/popular. Besides more bass, what would another 10w6 add . . . and would it just overpower the mids and tweeters?

Depends on what your definition of "enough" is? Enough to pop your windshield out on the hood? No. Enough to provide balanced, listenable audio spectrum reproduction? Yes.
Good Luck.

Thanks for the replies. ZEnclosures has a new box with an amp rack that is 1.35 cu. ft. On JL's web site they recommend and .65 cu. ft. box. What would a box this big do to the performance? Help or hurt? I like the idea of the amp rack. Zen does have a box without the rack that is .75 cu. ft. Would this be a better fit. I'm sure the 1.35 cu. ft. box would be perfect for a dual sub setup.
I still haven't decided on one or two subs. I do know what strong powerful tight bass is. In my home theater I have a custom made 300+ pound sub powered by a Crown K2 and eq'd by a Behringer Feedback Destroyer. This sub is as powerful as 8 Paradigm Servo 15's corner loaded. It is fast and tight. When a bomb explodes, dinosaur walks etc. your hair, pants legs actually shake and the house shakes. It's awesome.
Music is different. You want to feel a kick drum, just not have a boomy loud bass note that drowns out all other sounds. I do listen to music loud and do love bass. Thanks.

Well if you want to utilize the amp rack for show, get that box. if the internal volume is too big for 1 sub (which it will be) just fill space inside the enclosure by gluing blocks of wood inside until you achieve the proper volume for the sub chosen.
Instead of a JL 10w6, you might be happier with a Image Dynamics IDMAX10V.3 (either dual 2 ohm or dual 4 ohm depending on the amp you pick out) which will handle 1000 rms watts. The depth on the IDMAX 10" is 7.6" which may not fit in the .75cu.ft. under strut box without some kind of spacer or extra baffle.
