Default Removing Stock Bose Sub including hardware

OK. I want to mount my amps in my stock sub location.

I know how to get to the sub and remove the sub itself, but is it possible to actually remove the metal bracket that held the sub in place. i really don't want to cut it because when i sell the car i am restoring in completely to the factory bose radio including the bracket.

#2 if it is possible will the stock sub grill still attach over it to cover the massive whole and allow for ventilation for the amps.

Jim

Default Not a problem

#1 Yes - the plate that holds the subwoofer in place with something like 8 ten millimeter bolts comes right out. This will open a nice large hole allowing amplifiers to slide in there.

I MOST HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE USE OF AN AMPLIFIER SHELF.

Understand that the bottom of that area is the top of the gas tank. See the recent thread about the guy who ran his amplifier mounting screws into the top of his gas tank. A shelf can mount to the support brackets (x2) that hang down unused in the back and the two speaker mounting tabs on the forward bottom edge. I'll post pictures from my shelf install if you'd like.

#2 Yes - the subwoofer's speaker grill is a part of a larger panel. It can simply be pulled forward to allow access to the amplifier(s) after you're done with the installation. I put a wire loop handle that sticks out of the top of my set-up to allow easy access.

JL 10W6 Subwoofer
JL XR650-CSi Components - front
Some recycled Blaupunkts in the rear

The quality of the audio is way ahead that of the stock system.

I would pop the cubby cover and take a look and see how the amp is mounted. The bottom surface of the cubby has many dips, bends, etc and thus is not a suitable surface even if it was not the top of the gas tank.

He may have used a shelf or used some kind of filler (like I did) to create a flat surface for mounting.

getting the 8 10mm bolts out are a pain in the butt!
i tried today but it was getting dark, so I gotta try tommorrow...
im about to stick a 12" kicker l5 into that area.. all custom by me!
I hope it works, i know that area isn't sealed, so Im going to stuff it with this cushion stuff that came in this huge kicker box. Then i might try to seal some of the holes that exist at the top.

I hope I dont get sick while driving my car either lol.

Question: Did you have to take off the plastic covering also?
I know #1. Take off the mask if you dont have a bose subwoofer.
#2 unbolt the 10mm bolts
#3 (Will the metal sheet come out?)
or.. will I need to fiqure out a way to take out the plastic that is around it all on the outside to hold the stock mask/bose sub in place?
