I finally splurged and got the D3. I installed one for my friend in his is300, and have been wanting one ever since. very happy with the sound and look of the unit. And yes the flip up is a different color........I'm sure you know why. I threw in a pic of my Cap and amp also.

Yea install was super smooth, just not much room behind it for the wires. I think the thing that impressed me most was how it made my sub sound. I have a single 12" Alpine type-R, and it really made it come alive.
