Trying to find a good subwoofer/amplifier combo, quality more important than loudness.
Which one would you choose?
recommend one if you dont like either
thanks
K
PS BUDGET: 600-750, on the lower side is better!

I am a big +1 on not being a carbon copy......to a point. If something is repeated over and over again there must be a reason. however there are other choices than JL Audio. I think a lot of people (NOT all) here with JL Audio systems get them because of:
A) the marketing that JL pays for, and
B) because a lot of shops and chain stores sell JL audio as their 'top-of-the-line' brand, so that is the best stuff people can get very conveniently.
Don't get me wrong, you will read many other posts where I admit JL is one of the better mainstream brands.
OP, you have given us a choice between an 8" built more for SPL applications or a 10" built more for SQ applications. Of course since you say you want quality over loudness and those are your only two choices, I would tell you to get the 10W6. However for less money you can get just as good (if not better) SQ driver in the Diamond D610.
Here's what I propose:
Diamond D610d4 wired parallel to 2Ohms Clicky
Crossfire VR1000D 500rms watts (conservatively rated) at 2Ohms Clicky
Total cost is around $600

Everyone's always saying "W6! W7! Kicker L7! Rockford T2!" It seems these days all anyone wants are subwoofers the size of King Kong that have the ability to move tons and tons of air. If that's the kind of bass you're looking for - low drop, then go with a 10W6. It will move more air than an 8W7. I've got three 8W3 subs in my Z - they're clean, efficient, don't have that sloppy feel to them, provide a really nice kick, and move a lot of air because I have 24 inches of surface area.
