Default Alpine Problem????

My Alpine head unit's tuner reception is absolutely horrible!!

Everything else is fine, but the tuner doesn't pick up **** for radio stations (fades in and out).

Almost sounds like I didn't hook up the antenna when I installed it (but, I'm positive I did...)

Anyone else experiencing anything like that??

Question

Mine sucks so bad that I thought I had forgotten to plug the antenna link in all the way when I installed my deck. I took the deck out and reseated the antenna. It got a *little* better, but it's still awful IMO.

Anyone have any answers to this?

I had this problem too. It is fixed by connecting power to the antenna amplifier. This has been posted with pictures.

There is a green and white wire at the harness behind the radio that needs 12V power. Connect this and all will work well.

I don' t have a touring model, so I didn't have the bose system. Do all systems have this antenna amplifier?

Yes. Ihave the same head unit and my reception is fine. I think I just hooked mine up to the red power wire. Hope this helps.

I'll just hook mine up to the remote turn on lead (from the Metra harness) when I wire up my Basslink. That should work, right?
