Can I replace the base headunit with the Bose?
I want the car looking stock....and want a 6 CD in dash CD player. Is the Bose headunit the same as the Base headunit. (same size and fit?) Can I do this switch? Will it affect the Navigation system? Do I need to upgrade speakers and amps? thanks!

It fits physically and the pulgs for the wiring are the same size, but it just didn't work.
The sound was very low like it nneded amplification and scratchy. There are a couple of wires missing from the base harness to the bose, someone with some electronic expertise might get iot to work but not a straight replacement.

The Bose head unit does not have amplifiers in it. It is a line level differential output. You would need the Bose amp to make it work, along with the wire harness from the dash to the rear hatch area.
So, bottom line answer...the Bose head unit will NOT work in a non-Bose car.

i completely disagree.
i say it WILL work but you must use aftermarket amps to run the speakers.
then you get 6disc in dash changer and better sound(amps) win-win situation

He asked if it would directly work in a non-Bose car. Did not specify using aftermarket amps.
So, by using a differential converter made by PAC, Soundgate, or others, yes it will work in a non Bose car by ADDING aftermarket amps....

Do you guys think this would be an expensive install/complicated? Would it be difficult for a shop to figure this out, or is this more common then I think.........with the navigation variable
