What brand of car alarm are you guys using- looking to get one installed but not real familiar with quality alarms. Can you recommend some and a ballpark price for the alarm and install?
Thx

I went to a installer asking about car alarms. He does excellent work, very clean. He has done several show cars. He told me that he doesn't recommend putting a alarm system in the Z for about a year. He's had several problems install stereo systems and alarms that brought up check engine lights. I know of one Z at his shop that they worked on full stereo, dvd, nav, alarm w/ remote paging... but had to take it out cause the ECU was flipping out.
I've also asked a few good friends who are installers and they also recommend waiting for about a year before installing a alarm

they must have screwed something up then, because there is nothing special in the wiring of the z that.. it is wired the same as all the other nissans..maybe they should check their connections and make sure they used the right wires...
i recommend a higher end viper alarm for the z

The likelyhood of the shop screwing something up is very unlikely.
But regardless I have friends in a few shops that's told me to wait about six months to a year before I try and install a alarm and stereo.
Main reason being that this is a new model and obviously we've run into problems already with it. So let the bugs be worked out then go for the alarm and stereos. And if you just want a regular alarm... the stock one isn't really that bad.

how is waiting a year gonna help? alarms are alarms...the installer needs to know how to wire it...nothing special there.
anyways...i got the viper 300 esp2 one month after i got the z. took the installer about 2 hours and this was his first z. I have no problems w/ the system. oohh..one thing tho...ur gonna have to get two window relays and one trunk release relay. for some reason...my installer didnt know how to use the stock ones.
