Hey audiophiles I just wanted your thoughts on this unit. Do you think the 8v preouts makes a big difference compared to something like Alpines 9815 4v output. I am torn between the two, I like the features of the Alpine but like the reputation of SQ from Eclipse. Any expericence or reccommendations. I will be using an external amp most likely to run the interior speakers. If that makes any differece. Thanks for in advance for the input. ....Need input need more imput.... Johney 5

 

Well what do you want, bells and whistles or great sound? To me that's the difference between Alpine and Eclipse.

If I wanted to reproduce music in it's purest form I'd go to Eclipse every time. If I wanted all the worthless features to say I have them then I'd choose Alpine.

The difference will be magnified too when using external amping. Both HUs head to head will sound very similar off their internal power sources, but when amped the Eclipse will shine for SQ.

With that being said, they are both good HUs, way better then Sony or Blaupunkt for example but my money would go on Eclipse hands down for sound quality.

 

I was thinking the same thing you are. I want more sound quality than anything however it would of been nice for it to play mp3's. Is it true that that model will be able to play sirus in a few months, if so then it seems the way to go.

 

The 8443 can play MP3s if you get the eclipse commander advanced and hide it under the dash. The 8443 is also sirrus compatable.

I've got the 8053 coming for my Z and if I like it I'll be getting another one for my Honda.

 

Well seems like the eclipse is the one I am heading towards, they are haveing a good deal on it at our soundadvice. 377 isn't that bad I suppose compared to 500 for an alpine
