Default Luv the Z....Hate the stereo.......

What should I do, the sound in my Z blows. I have a non-bose head and don't want to spend more than $500. Is there any solutions?

no more than $500. Go buy yourself an iPod (portable MP3, CD player or MD player) and a pair of kick @$$ headphones.

Problem solved.

Your not going to get a better system for only 500, the best you can do is upgrade the speakers, or the headunit. Plus have to figure price for Install if you're not a DIY'er.

Mmm....$500 is not alot. Assumeing you are going to install yourself, and willing to spend a little more for the wires and stuff, you can go ebay and get a pair of Infinity Perfect componet for the front(250), and an Infinity basslink($200). Not a top notch system, but better than than stock.

you can get a decent head unit for 250, and a good set of speakers (aka infinity perfects) off ebay.. that will keep you under 500.. speakers will want more power but will still sound MUCH better than stock

How much would a quality system cost, $1,000? I am not looking to spend alot more, but I had a 325i with the HK sound system and miss that one. This one I can barely hear with the windows down. How much would it cost me to get it to the 325i HK sound level. I am not talking spectacular sound, but nice.

This is what i did. I got myself a Alpine MRV F450 amp ($300 on ebay) and CDT CL-61a (u can get at thezeb.com for $150) also with the new amp your stock sub really isnt going to work. I had an old bazooka bass tube that i just hooked up to my amp. U can find passive bass tubes on ebay for $100.

If u do the isntall yourself that only cost ya around $600 with all the wires and adapters, etc u need

My system sounds great imo. only small complaint is i need to get a infinity basslink or a real sub because the bazooka tube is definatly low quality (yet far superior to stock sub, which is sad)
