Long stroy short.
I'll be trading in my Z for an 04'.
I'm getting the base opposed to my touring because I plan on redoing radio, seats, engine, ect. So it's stupid to spend 10K more on stuff I'm just going to end up ripping out. So I had a question.
I'm NOT getting the Nissan nav this time around.
If I were to get a In-PC can you tie in a after market navigation into that?

if you getting a pc, why would you need an aftermarket nav?? the pc can handle it.
and the answer is Yes, you just need to do some extra work like making sure the screen has 2 inputs and a splitter to get the audio out.

I am not sure why you'd need the two inputs. There are a few packages available for gps navigation. I have seen prices from 100-350 dollars for the software plus gps receiver. I haven't tried any of them myself, so I can't help there. I've heard good things about www.destinator1.com the pc version, but I haven't seen any screen shots.
Anyway, check out www.mp3car.com for more into.
It would be nice for your new HU to have audio input that would automatically mute or soften the radio when audio input is used. ie hearing nav voice commands. Plus, you can get DVD player, mp3 player, etc.

So you need 2 inputs to the screen. One for PC the other for after market nav single din (alpine, etc..)
Thats why I asked why he would need an aftermarket unit if he had a pc.
But you still don't have to do it that way. Just get GPS software for your PC. Mine has CoPilot 2003 and it works very nicely.
I have the Xenarc screen and it has the regular VGA connector in the back. No other inputs needed. The sound for the voice on the nav plays through your car speakers through an FM modulator, just the everything else from the PC (DVD, MP3, video games etc.).

Check out http://www.delorme.com for a good usb based gps receiver. I've used the older model with a laptop before and it worked great. I can only imagine the newer model works even better. Reasonably priced too.
