Default Cdt Es620z

Will CDT ES620Z fit in the stock speaker location with a spacer ring?

They are 2.75" deep, but I am concerned about the magnet diameter impact the install.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated...

^^ 2.75" (70mm) depth is slightly too deep for the stock door position using the OEM grill. I don't think it will fit, even with a spacer. I tried using a speaker with this depth, and I couldn't get it to fit.

I bought a set of DLS MS6A's.. they are 2.64" and I am basically just praying they will fit.

There is a small ray of sunshine.. eD was able to fit their edi6500 set in a 350z with only a 0.75" spacer. The 6500 midrange mounting depth is 2.8"

Yeah, I was fortunate enough to be able to exchange them from the retailer that I purchased them from since they were never mounted and can be resold for new.

The K2P's were 3.0" in depth...

I was able to get to within a 1/16 of an inch of making them fit so I have a high level of confidence that I can get the CDT's to fit, but I just want a confirmation that they will fit before I go through the trouble again...

In order to get them in there you have to do some modification to how the speaker attaches to the door by taping the stock holes so that you can angle your spacer off of some stand offs.

Anyone have a good DIY on modifying the sailpanel where the stock tweeter goes?

I understand how it works, but I cannot figure out how the sailpanel is attached to a drillpress to drill the hole... any info on this would be much appreciated too...

I will take pics once I get the speakers in the mail...

CDT ES620Z Fronts
Blaupunkt pnp 275 amps
1 JL 10 W3
JL Audio Cleansweep

I am under the impression that this will get me what I am looking for...

Comments/Concerns about the system...

yeah please do take some pics of the install, I am interested in your solution. My speakers are sitting in the box in my living room... it will be a couple of weeks before I can actually attempt an install.

i followed 350z tech . com guide on modifying the front sails.

i bought diamond audio d661s (2.7 inch depth) and i had to use 1" spacers+ weatherstripping to get it to not hit the window. I also had to dremmel the inside of the door.

Default Cdt?

Are these speakers really good? I have read some reviews on the forum and some stuff on the net, but I cannot hear them in person.

I think that no one would disagree that what one person make like another may not and vice versa...

Basically I am asking for info pertaining to what you have heard about them, and what knowledge you may personally have about them...

Thanks...

CDT makes relatively neutral sounding component sets. I know it's tough to hear them in person locally.

It is always best to demo what you buy before you buy it (I feel you know that already). The advice I can offer is get the CDT's, try them out. If you don NOT like the way the sound, you can very easily sell them because CDT is a pretty popular brand for components and many people are looking for CDT sets.

When you click on the ES series on CDT's site it takes you to where the "Gold" speakers are...

So are the ES620Z speakers of this "gold" set you speak of? So they will fit?

Yeah, I figure they sound good, I mean it is unlikely that as many people would stand up and give them the superlatives that they receive if they were really a shotty company.

I am going to get the ES620Z's and see how I like them...

Once again, I still need some info on how to modify the sail panel... the steps I am interested in are missing in the DIY.

Spacer, I do not want to permantently modify the door panel, and the kick panels take away my ability to use my dead pedal for stability when I am cornering hard...

What's the deal with CDT saying that mounting tweeters in the sail panel is bad?

Wouldn't coaxial speakers be easier to manufactuer anyway?

This is turning into a cluster **ck

Can you buy the sail panels anywhere? Nissan only sells them with the tweeters or 100 a piece, anyone know where I can find cheaper in case I screw something up?

So for arguements sake, would I be better off going with the HD63 Braxial? Would those fit? WTF?

truthfully i would permanently modify your doors with pods

i do not like the speakers behind door panels , it is like talking with your hand in front of your mouth
