Default Anyone go to the Dealer complaining about the Bose Sound and get a New Radio

I took my Touring Z model in to the dealer and asked them to check out the poor quality of the sound system and they are ordering me a new Head Unit. Has anyone had this done with any improvement? My radio should be in about 3 weeks from now.
I don't think this has anything to do with the Bose Fix and I am not expecting much improvement if any.

Please let me know if you have had this done and were satisfied with the results.

Default Radio Replacement

Well I got the radio replacement and there is not any difference. The radio is still crap. It does sound different though. Sounds more tinney. Not as much bass, but still a poor quality for a premium sound system. I guess I'll have to wait for the fix.

I am getting a new HU in a couple of Frdays as mine doesn't even play my CDs anymore. They play for about 10 seconds then quit. It is so frustrating. At the same time as my CD player replacement I am getting the window streak fixed, getting new front tires for the feathering, getting Eibach springs put in, NISMO sway bars put in and also a warranty covered alignment because of the feathering. So that should be good.

10 seconds huh? Does it quit or does it go to the next song.

Are you sure you don't have it on "sample" mode....I believe there is that capability with this HU.

They replaced my amp because there was a recall on it. It sounded different but not better. I finally just bought all new aftermarket components. (Eclipse 5181, JL 300/4 amp, JL 650 CS, JL 650 CX, JL 12w0)

Is your radio replacement the same as original? Does it still have the audio pilot with no way to turn off? That's what drives me crazy is the way the volume goes up and down while driving!

I checked with my dealer and they didn't know of any problems with the Bose system. I copied all of the e mails from Bose to get them up so speed about what is going on. I really think we are screwed as far as getting some real help.

The radio looks the same. The volume does not fluctuate like it did, as a matter of fact, now that I think of it, it doesn't seem to work at all. I have to turn up the volume as the road noise increases. Maybe they disconnected it.

Wonder if they even changed out the radio? Maybe they just disconnected the audio pilot????????

my z was made in 11/02. i have checked for the audio pilot microphone all over under the steering wheel and cannot find it. since i don't seem to have the problems that everyone is talking about with my bose, do you think nissan and bose already fixed it at the assembly line for nov 2002's and later? does anyone know?

Doubtful. My Z was made probably really close to yours, and I know what they're talking about.

My volume changes up and down slightly all the time, for no apparant reason. It's trying to adjust to the ambient noise volume, but it just doesn't work. Plus, of course, the sound quality sucks.

i complained about the radio and they changed my Bose amp (TSB fix) Sounds a bit better.. more leveled.. before i had too much bass. Oh and the autopilot mic is under the steering wheel. need to take off the bottom part along with about 5 screws i think.

Yes the non-Bose system is made by Clarion. The Nissan/Clarion stereo in my Maxima actually sounded pretty good.

It quits and says check disc on every CD. The new one works fine. Someone else on this forum is experiencing this now. There is a thread.

I stopped at the local dealer again and he gave me a new brochure for the 2004 Z and also said they did not know of anything being done. Here is a direct quote from the new brochure
“New for 2004 is a retuned, 240-watt Z-specific available Bose audio system with in-dash 6-CD changer – complete with noise-compensator technology. Making just as much impressive noise as the Z itself are seven speakers, including a 10-inch subwoofer.”
We know they have change the Bose system in the 04 so when do they get to us?
