I assume you opened up the headliner to run the wires with the rv mirror wires? Or did you run it around the edge of the windshield?
Looks nice, I've been putting off doing the same thing with the hidden remote module. I assume you put that guy in too.

I did basically the same thing with my Escort back in January, and I think some others did it before I did. There is a thread or so floating around with pics.
I went to the fuse panel, instead of splicing up to the rear view mirror wires, so that I wouldn't have to mess with stuff in a tight location or pull part of the headliner down. Just push the wire in with the edge of a credit card where the orange line runs in the pic. Follow the door side of the molding down and into the kick panel fuse panel. No opening of the headliner or roof console needed:

I tried both, but had no success...the original mirror mount screw appeared to be too short to reach the threads once the additional thickness of the zip bracket was in the mix, and the screw supplied with the zip bracket didn't seem to thread properly at all.

Ther first thing I did was bend the tab that mounts to the mirror so it was straight. I then drilled out the hole that the mounting bolt go through just enough so the bolt will fit without threading it through the bracket. The bolt supplied is too long so you can go to the local hardware and get a shorter one. I just added 3 small
washers and used the lock washer that came with the bolt. Put the lock washer on then put the bolt in the bracket slip the washers on the back side of the bracket. I also put a drop of locktite on the bolt. The bolt fits it just that you have to get the exact angle to thread it. Snug it up until there is no movement of mirror or bracket. I also added a foam disc I made and put double sided tape on it and placed it on the bracket so it would not move when you hit a bump.

Can you install it like this in California, is it legal? Will the cops hassle you? How does it work in this location? What was the cost of this bracket and parts to do this install. Looks great!
Thanks, Jeff

Radar detectors are 100% legal everywhere in the US with the exception of Virginia and Washinton D.C. (per www.radartest.com)
Whether the cops will hassle you is another story...but you don't need a radar detector to be hassled.

A 10/24 x 3/4 inch screw worked well to mount the bracket to support the radar unit. No drilling of mirror mount required. Exact size is a 5 mm with a 1.00 or 1.25 pitch but the onlything I've been able to find is a standard .8 pitch. The 10/24 worked fine though.
