Default Does the PA11-NIS work with the 03 Z?

I just order one of those PA11-NIS units from a member here......now i checked out the website and it says its for 2004-2007 model Z. Does that mean that they forgot the Z started in 03 or the 03 bose deck or somting doesnt work well with this unit?

My main thing is to use my iphone with the stock Bose deck.
i have a 03 Z touring model with premium bose system with cd changer but no sat. What can i expect?

It... depends.

At some point between 2003 and 2004 they changed the BOSE HU. The 2004 -> has an empty plug where you can plug in this device to hook up, lets say, an iPod.

I had on 03 BOSE and went out and bought an 04/05 unit to get this done. The 04/05 unit will have the empty plug in for the PAC device.

You can distinguish them because the old HU says "AM/FM", while the newer unit says "Radio" on the button to switch bands. If yours says AM/FM, you... have some searching to do.

BTW, I think I have an extra one at home... I have to check.

BTW, 06 -> units do have the plug, but the radio itself has rounded corners and won't fit an early console, unless you also replace the console fascia. SO what you need is an 04 to 05 BOSE HU, unless you want further issues to deal with...

thanks alot for this advice......the moment i read this...i went down to check on my Z's Bose HU......and next thing you know....it says Radio instead of AM/FM...yeppy ......plus when i bought the car last year there were the red/white (RCA cables) hanging at the bottow coming from the side of the dash......when i plugged it in when i got the car....the ipod didnt play throught the speakers.......BUT....now that i switched the band from the Radio button...to CD changer one (i think thats what it said)....and i increased the volume.......and VOILA! it worked
So my Z has somting hooked up with RC cables that enables the ipod to play......im goin to find out if the unit that is installed has the ipod wire spot for it....so i can control the ipod through the HU.

Well... I have not heard of anybody been able to control the iPod via the Bose HU. All you get is standard RCA inputs (L/R).

I even installed a display unit to get the video out of my iPod, but it only sends videos you play through there, not the menus.
