as bad as the sound system is in the Z, its light years better than the one in my STi. That one is just downright horrible, although it have 6 disc as opposed to the 1.

The Z has a stereo system???

Actually, I don't find it too bad -- it plays music, although the car itself isn't so quiet that it would make a difference.

The Z’s OEM Clarion CES is a very inexpensive setup that is certainly ‘low-end.” When I replaced the OEM speakers, I was truthfully surprised to see such minimal quality.

Notice the maximum rating is 40w and the tiny magnet. The cone is made from some type of paper that dents when pressed upon. I am surprised that Clarion would put their brand name on such a poor piece of equipment.

The Z’s Bose system isn’t much better (i.e., you cannot buy such a small SubW with as weak an amplifier in the aftermarket as Nissan provides with its Bose “upgrade”).

The Z is a hard-core performance machine with an attractive price, and it isn’t about A/V for many of the buyers. This is a popular car for the track where a high-end sound system isn’t a priority. Of course some buyers want a great CES, and the Z (with its numerous cubbies) provides a great environment for elaborate CES upgrades.

I would never buy a factory upgrade for the Z, but instead install an aftermarket solution.

As you can see,,,you will read various opinions here about the Non-Bose and Bose set-ups. It really all depends on how much and what way, you enjoy your music. But,,it is a proven fact on this board,,,most of the factory OEM stereo set up will eventually cause problems and you end up making a change regardless.

you don't buy a touring for the sh!tty Bose system.. you buy it for the VDC... Leather Seats.. Heated Seats... Homelink Mirror... 18" rims.. and so forth.. the last reason should be the Bose

The Bose system really blows. I hate how the sub readjusts itself. Sometimes, it'll be too much bass or too little. I think I'll be changing them out this spring.

I swear the subaru liberty 2001 has a better sounding CASSETTE player compared to my 2003 350z. Just rip the whole stereo out, including the wires, and replace it all.
