I'm having troubles installing the new update...I tried burning it onto a couple CDs and it plays a terrible sound. Then I can get it to read on a DVD but never finishes uploading, Kenwood's site says around 5 mins to complete (I've left it in for around a hour one time). Any ideas?

Another question...when my iPod is plugged in the unit says the iPod is disconnected but still plays music just doesn't let me control it, I was hoping the update would fix it. I do have an iPod Touch, does anyone else have a touch that allows it to control it from the iPod screen?

I had a simlar problem and called kenwood a few times they told me to nero to burn the disc did not think it should matter but it did made a new disc and it worked. hope this helps. I also have a ipod touch and have had many problems with if your ipod is jailbroke unjailbreak it when i went to 2.0 the new firmware it worked much better and i can play video from my touch to cool could not do that before.

 

I installed my ddx512 over the summer of 2008 (I think I posted earlier in this thread too), but just last night I had something weird happen. I started the car, and the screen came on, but the sound never came on. When it turned on it was on the iPod channel, then I switched it to Sirius, then to FM, then to CD/DVD and no sound would come out. I even turned it all the way up. My amp was fine (as far as I could tell...the normal power indicator light was on so I figure it was OK). It was cold out but I've run the unit in colder temperatures before without any issue.

So I turned it off and went to the gym and an hour later turned it back on, and it worked. So now it's suspect. Has this happened to anyone else here? If so was it a problem with your HU or your amp? And how did you remedy it? Thanks..

 

Make sure you have the latest firmware update mine seems to run great since the last update if that does not help then and the problem persist i would take it out and go to kenwood if you have a dealer close by thats what i did they were very helpfull but try the update. hope this helps.

 

Thanks I will try installing the new firmware update. Any idea if it will read it off a usb thumb drive, or do I have to use a CD?

 

Is this compatible with steering wheel controls? If ordered from cruchfield do i need a seperate dash kit?

 

You must use a CD and if you have any problems try using nero to burn the CD good luck

It works with swi-jack by Pac-audio.

 

SO i decided to purchase this one. Will be doing it in a few weeks. Will get the refurbished unit from crutchfield with an extended warranty, the swi-jack for audi controls, the IPOD cable, and the Sirius package for kenwood. The sirius is out of stock so il wait until they have it in and order everything together. I think total will be around $550 and i will install myself with my friend who can easily do this.

 

Also does someone have a install guide for this which may help us!!??

Dash Kit question for DDX512 and 350Z, 2005 Roadster. I had an installer at BB (BestBuy) tell me you can install this unit with or without a dash kit. Anyone have any opinions on this? I say order the dash kit but would like advice of people who have this is receiver.

I have the DDX512 and was wondering, how do you make the background image the you install cover the full screen? I loaded a jpg but it is not full screen. Is there a setting for this?

 

I just installed the head this morning, I love it but I have the stock nav on my 2003 track. Anyone else have problems with the nav not working?

I got it to work finally but Im worried it might stop soon so if theres a module or anything I need just figured Id ask now.

As for the resolution kenwood says the image should be 480x234 to be "fullscreen" but I havent tried it yet.

 

Resize the image to 480x234. It works, I just did it on mine.
