sub floor question
Is is possible to build a box in the spare tire well without fiberglassing the bottom of it? I'm trying to fit an FI Q 10 in the well and build a new floor 2 inches higher. My shop wants 2200 just for the install as I've provided the sub and amp. This is the first time i've ever done anything custom regarding car audio but that seems a little high. I coulda almost got a turbo kit for the cost of this stereo and all i have is a AVIC D3, diamond audio 661s and a FI Q 10.
yes, but more than likely you'll have to cut off the metal piece that holds your spare tire.
im looking at a 1.75 cuft box with only raising the floor about an inch. that should be enough for the FI Q

Sure can. Lay some dampening material down and when you set the sides of the box down, use liquid nails, caulk etc to seal it. Honestly, though you're only saving 3/4" v.s. if you used a bottom of mdf. Drill a large hole to go over the spare tire mount and then use it to hold your box down.
