Question Replacing the Bose, Where to Start?

Hey Guys!
I got my Touring Model Z a couple of weeks ago, and like most of you, I'm pretty disappointed with the stereo. I want a new system, but I don't wanna dump $2000 into replacing everything at once. So should I get a new Head unit first? New Speakers? New Amp? Sub? Any recommendations or suggestions would be welcome too! Thanks!

Justin

I am in the same boat. And I am also far from the most qualified person to answer this, But I think you may not have too many otions for parting out the system. BOSE seems to have a pretty proprietary system of sorts tucked into the car, and it seems to limit your ability to just replace parts.

My sense is that you probably have to gut it and start over. Having said that, I'm sure I've read posts in here where people swapped say the front speakers, or some other part. But I can't say if they really had good luck with the results.

Read some of the old posts and you'll start to develop a sense of what you can and can't get away with.

Let us know how you make out. I still have to do the same thing.

PS. I was at my Bro's this weekend, and he had a pile of pretty blue alpine boxes on his living room floor, waiting to go into a new car he's driving. Made me want to get the credit card out!!
