Default problems with ipod Avic D3, please help!

ok, pics will be coming this weekend. My install went great, but there is one problem. I bought the PICP (not the pioneer brand, they said its the same thing tho)...from Al and Ed's

the problem...I had the ipod connector ran up under and out through where the coin/ashtray thing is. It is a very clean job. So the ipod goes there. When the lid is closed, you would never know its custom. If I move the ipod around a little, and esp. when I move the cord say...agaisnt the slot...the ipod STOPS playing. I can't even touch the Avic D3 screen anymore. But I still have the ability to touch the screen for all other options. It will eventually play fine...but again, if I move the ipod at all, it STOPS all ipod playing.

I also CANT play videos straight off my video ipod. WTF? is going on? Is it the way they installed it or the actual wire is no good? Maybe its kinked? Not sure.

please help...

one more thing...since it has to come out now, should I hook up a farenheit in the upper cubby? And whats the point of 2 screens? Can I play dvds up there while listening to music? Oh, and spare me search police, I'm in a pissed off mood, lol.

thanks for the help guys, both long and short posts appreciated.

so c'mon peeps...

is this the installer's fault or a bad cord? If its a bad cord, maybe i should have bought the pioneer one? But is it the same length? Al and Ed's told me its the same **** thats why I opted to save a few bucks...dammit this stresses me out.

and again, I can't play video podcasts or music videos on the screen, so something is wrong. I hope its the installers fault so I don't have to wait for another cord to get here.

The cord is probably bad. I went with the Pioneer cord and it words perfect. You get what you pay for.

Do you have a new ipod, or an ipod with the latest firmware?

Thats why.

Apple decided that Ipods should only be able to transfer video to Apple devices.

Load some older firmware, thats how my cousin got his to work. Search around here http://www.avic411.com/forum/index.p...ca5f0e74c0ec94

There are sure to be tons of threads on it.

I have the Pioneer cord and have no problems with getting my videos to play from my Ipod to the AVIC.

You have to make sure that before you play a video, you need to adjust the settings on your Ipod to "TV Out" or something like that in the video settings.
Also, you control the video functions thru the Ipod only.

Do you have the newest Ipod?

I want to try to find an older Ipod video so I don't have to screw around with the firmware backgrade.

I have a pioneer Avic n3. It can play ipod video latest generation. HOWEVER, i did not buy the pioneer ipod adapter. I used the RCA cable (red, yellow, white wires with a usb cord) that i bought from Apple store. I also bought the Charger for the ipod that you can plug into the cigarrette lighter in the car. This car-charger has a USB slot that uses a USB from which the wires i bought from apple store.

so i plug the RCA wires (red, white, yellow) into the A/V inputs in the harddrive box under the seat for the pioneer avic n3, and plug the end into the ipod video. Also, that usb wire was plug into the charger.

I was able to play music, music videos, podcast, movies while i am able to use GPS on my avic n3. I know the bluetooth and rear camera functionality (i dont have it hooked up) will work while my ipod video and GPS is playing.

the ipod video also charges while it plays. It rest comfortably in the nav cubby hole.

i'll take pics of it after finals.

my suggestion is that re-trace the wires and make sure all the wires are plugged properly and make sure the wires are not cut or damaged. If you think there are places where the wires might come into contact with sharp edges, use the electrical tapes to protect the wires from getting scratch.

btw..post the pics up already!!!
