I does look really nice and better quality of there previous versions. I will admit though, I would rather have a full size unit that fits in a double din bay versus a slim unit floating/suctioned to the dash.

Woops my bad, looks like the Avic 900BT is a full size double din....I think. I wonder how much these will go for off the bat. If I was a gambling man I would say in the upwards of 2000.00

Good post.

I like the inclusion of SD card slots and Bluetooth which ought to be standard features on any new media-centered head end. I'd take an Ethernet port too if they'd give me one. I didn't see mention that the screen tilted but that's likely there too. I'd love to be able to put in topographic maps for my off road use (in the other Nissan).

The AVIC-F series is something that Pioneer really needed to do. This is a new paradigm for Pioneer that allows Pioneer to compete more directly with Kenwood (OEM Garmin). Both units (the new Pioneer AVIC-F and existing Kenwood) are flashdrive-based for better performance, reliability, and user-updates.

For now, the Pioneer AVIC-F series has a 5.8” touch screen while Kenwood has a larger 6.95” in its DD device. And, Kenwood offers integrated GPS DD devices along with a remote GPS blackbox that connects to other products in the Kenwood line (DD’s devices, and remote screens operated from Kenwood KOS Controllers). That gives Kenwood a big advantage for now, but I’m sure that Pioneer will answer this challenge and provide a competing product with a larger LCD display.

Personally I could care less about all the other new features, I would like to see a 3 way crossover in one of these units at some point.

^^ I believe you can do this with Kenwood's KOS system.
